Je mets en vente les pipes anciennes de mon grand-père !

Il en avait toute une collection.
Voici une pipe qui est rare, car les anciennes
de cette marque gainées de cuir sont introuvables,
et celle-ci a un foyer d'une forme très particulière.
Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un fourneau en bois de bruyère, mais
sans certitude.

Elle a un tuyau marron. La pipe comporte la marque
Butz Choquin imprimée dans le cuir (probablement
du cuir de mouton ou de chèvre), et les initiales
BC gravées sur le tuyau qui attestent de son authenticité.

Je l'ai ouverte pour vous montrer le filtre métallique,
tout à l'air en bon état et je pense qu'elle fonctionne.

Elle a des défauts, comme la tache brune sur le cuir dûe
à son utilisation, et des rayures sur le tuyau vers la lentille.

Sur le listing vous voyez une photo ancienne de mon
grand-père avec deux de ses amis, qui fument la pipe ! Je garde
la photo mais je me sépare des objets car je pense qu'ils pourraient
faire plaisir à quelqu'un.

I'm selling my grandfather's smoking pipe collection !

He had a whole set of them.
This is a pipe that was used in the 40s.
I think the head is made of briar wood but I
have no certainty, as it is covered in leather.

This pipe is rare because there are very few of
this brand that can still be found that are covered
in leather, and the ones I've seen don't have the
same head shape, so this one is unique.

Covering them in leather was supposed, according
to the specialists I read, to be practical for example
for masking the defaults of the wood, but also
as a form of elegance. It doesn't make it easier
to smoke apparently.

This leather is probably cognac colored sheep or
goat leather, patinated. You can see a dark brown
stain on the leather that was caused by the use of the pipe. Other than that, the pipe has some scratches
towards the end, but it is very nice. The stem is brown.

There is Butz Choquin print on the leather, and also
the initials BC engraved on the stem, that testify to
its authenticity.

I opened it to show the metal filter, and all seems
in good state so I'm pretty sure it works, although I haven't tried it.

On the listing, you can see a photo of my
grandfather and two of his friends, smoking
with one of his pipes. I'm keeping the photo !
But letting go of the pipes, as I think they could
make someone really happy !!
