Un objet extraordinaire, que j'ai trouvé récemment
parmi les objets que j'ai gardé longtemps dans un garage.
Cette pièce vient de chez mon grand-père et ma grand-mère,
et il a probablement été ramené d'Afrique par mon grand-père
ou par son frère qui a voyagé de manière extensive.
Ce coupe papier est en bois noir et il m'a été confirmé par
un luthier, que c'est de l'ébène véritable.
Le manche est très joliment taillé, avec un design floral
et il est intact. Le bout du couteau ressemble à
la tête d'un hippopotame si vous regardez de près.
La lame, tout en bois, est légèrement abîmée à deux
endroits, ce qui montre que l'objet est une antiquité;
Et aussi que c'est du véritable ébène, car le bois apparait brut
à ces endroits.
Ce serait un cadeau incroyable pour un père, un grand-père,
un frère. Il peut toujours être utilisé dans un bureau, pour ouvrir
les lettres, mais personnellement, j'ai un tel respect pour les choses anciennes, je ne sais pas si j'oserais ouvrir mon courrier avec !

Coupe-papier en ébène sculpté , E B O N Y
This is an extraordinary object, that I found recently
among the items I have long kept in a garage.
This piece comes from my grandpa and grandma's house, and it was probably brought back from Africa by my grandfather, or by his brother, who traveled
extensively.
This is dark wood and it was confirmed to me by
a nickelharpa maker, that it's genuine ebony.
The handle is very beautifully, carved with a floral
design, and intact. The tip of the knife, looks like
the head of a hippopotamus if you look closely.
The blade, all made of wood, is chipped on two
places, which shows that the object is an antique;
and also that it's genuine ebony, as the wood appears raw on these places.
It would be an incredible gift for, a father, a grandfather, a brother. It can still be used in an
office, as for me I have such reverence for old
things I don't know if I would dare open my mail
with it !!
